Diary in Notepad

There is a simple feature in Notepad that can make it work like a personal diary for you. Here is how to go about it:

1. Open a blank Notepad file.

2. Now write .LOG as the first line in the file, and then press enter. Now save the file and close it.

3. Open the notepad file now and you will find that the current date and time has been appended (put) at the end and the cursor is in the next line.

4. Type your notes and then save and close the file.

5. Each time you open the file, Notepad repeats the process that is it appends the date and time to the end of the file and places the cursor below it.

This way you can keep track of all your entries, you can easily maintain what you wrote when. This can work very much like a personal diary.

Credit Card Fraud

Please go thru the mail from a credit card fraud victim:

" Last weekend I was a victim of a Credit Card Fraud. Luckily for me I had activated the option of receiving Email notifications each time the credit limit on my crossed a certain value or percentage (e.g.: 25%, 50%, etc)

On Monday (June 23rd) I saw one such notification saying that the transactions on my card had crossed the credit limit. Since I had not swiped my card for any such high value transactions, I checked with my bank and found that my card was used to make some 10-12 online transactions by some unscrupulous persons to the tune of 1.2 Lakh!

I found from my bank that someone had used my card during the weekend (Sat June 21st and Sun Jun 22nd) to buy Air Line Tickets, when the card was very much with me during the weekend. Myself and my husband and some friends immediately swung into action and contacted each of the 5 respective Air Lines to find out that all the flights had been taken in the weekend and some 30-40 people had happily traveled all over India(Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Indore etc) on my credit card. Luckily for us, one flight from Kolkata was arriving to Bangalore on Monday (June 23rd).

I went to one police station Police, to lodge an FIR but they directed us to Airport Police.(FIR has to be launched from the location where the crime has been committed, since this is online, they were not sure. we also did not have too much time, since the flight was landing on the same day itself.). We requested the Airlines to allow the passengers to travel to Bangalore and drove down to the Devanahalli Airport . Along with the Airport Police we were able to nab 4 people
(1 guy managed to escape) who traveled with my credit card. Then we brought them to the city police station at 10 in the night and they were questioned(I guess you all know how). After 1.5 days tension, explanations, requests, influences, blames and threats we were able to finally lodge an FIR. This has been submitted to the bank for further investigation for 45 days. Hopefully, I do not have to pay the 1.2 lakh( I just hope).

On questioning, the arrested guys said that they had no clue about any credit card and had paid an agent to arrange for tickets and deliver them home. 1 guy spilt the beans about a local agent in Bangalore who used the Credit Card details to buy these tickets online. Still the case is under investigation as it is looks like a huge chain.

But the question is How Did This Agent Get The Card Details when I haven't transacted ever with this agent???

Online Air ticket booking does not need any verification, like other transactions. We just need to give the card number, CVV number and Expiry date of the card.

I recalled having used the card in the previous week for Shopping at two malls and at a Restaurant. We give out our card to the waiter/cashier and all he has to do is to memorize your 3 digit CVV number... At one such place when I gave my card to be swiped, the CVV # (which is a last 3 digit # found on the back of the card) was noted down/memorized by the cashier / waiter/God knows who. The card # and expiry date of the card anyways shows up on the transaction slip.

I heard from some people that the CVV #, Expiry Date and Card # is sold to Credit Card Fraudsters for as low as Rs. 100/- to 200/-!! (Can you believe it!!!!)

Some Steps to Protect Yourself from Credit Card Fraud

1) Check your Credit Card Statements regularly

2) Check with your bank if you have an option to receive email / SMS notifications for High Value Transactions. If available, activate the same. Look at the back of your card and see if the CVV # is mentioned. If yes, note it elsewhere and Score it off with a permanent marker from your card

3) Sign your cards as soon as they arrive.

4) Carry your cards separately from your wallet, in a zippered compartment, a business card holder, or another small pouch.

5) Keep a record of your account numbers, their expiration dates and the phone number and address of each company in a secure place.

6) Keep an eye on your card during the transaction, and get it back as quickly as possible. In restaurants, we send the card in the folder with the waiter. And finally when you are thinking of how to save for the flight tickets for your next vacation with the family, someone else is happily flying places on your card. And then finally you end up paying for someone else’s vacation, and cancel yours.

7) DON'T sign a blank receipt. When you sign a receipt, draw a line through any blank spaces above the total.

Although credit card fraud is certainly on the rise -- and credit card fraud on the Internet is rising even more dramatically -- many savvy Internet shoppers know that the reality is that it's actually much safer to enter your credit card number on a secure online order form than it is to give your credit card to a waiter at a restaurant.

After all, what's to stop the waiter from writing down your credit card number and then selling the details for a mere 200/-.

If you think that this happens to others, it’s NOT true. YOU May be the next victim!

Hence, removing the CVV number from your card is much better than going through this mess, risks and tensions. I hope you learn from my experience rather than wait to experience it yourself. The pain of feeling cheated and then the risks and tension involved is really horrible.

How to prevent your PEN drive from VIRUS

Many of your PC/laptop's normally gets virus because of Pen Drives or USB devices (Even PC's who are not connected to network ). Some Virus like Ravmon Virus , Heap41a worm which are not detected by anti virus normally spreads mostly by the Pen Drives . In such a case what can you do to prevent your PC from getting infected with Virus that spreads through USB devices or Pen Drives ?

You can protect your PC by just following the simple steps below . It won't take much time.

Connect your Pen Drive or USB drive to your computer .
Now a dialogue window will popup asking you to choose among the options. Don't choose any of them , Just simply click Cancel.

*Now go to Start--> Run and type cmd to open the Command Prompt window ..
*Now go to My Computer and Check the Drive letter of your USB drive or Pen Drive. ( E.g. If it is written Kingston (I:) , then I: will be the drive letter ..)
*In the Command Window ( cmd ) , type the drive letter: and Hit Enter ..
*Now type dir/w/o/a/p and Hit Enter
*You will get a list of files . In the list , search if anyone of the following do exist
1. Autorun.inf
2. New Folder.exe
3. Bha.vbs
4. Iexplore.vbs
5. Info.exe
6. New_Folder.exe
7. Ravmon.exe
8. RVHost.exe or any other files with .exe Extension .

If you find any one of the files above , Run the command attrib -h -r -s -a *.* and Hit Enter.
Now Delete each File using the following Command del filename ( E.g del autorun.inf )
That's it . Now just scan your USB drive with the anti virus you have to ensure that you made your Pen Drive free of Virus .

This virus is very very common now...
To know whether ur system is infected just type C:\heap41a in the address bar...
if there is a folder named heap41a, then ur system is infected...
(AVAST antivirus is the best solution for this worm...) symantec also works.

Extract pics from DVD video

Use a DVD backup software like DVDx to convert your DVD vob files into AVI format. Then download AVCutty to extract picture frames from this AVI video.

AVCutty is smart and can automatically detect the scene changes in video files. Open the extracted photographs in an software like Picasa and select the ones that you like to print.

And yes, all the software mentioned above are absolutely free. The quality of extracted images may not match that of original pictures but they would still be good enough.

Insight of Men psychology w.r.t Gals...

If you are a guy, age >=22 and still single....welcome to the club. Read this very seriously.
If you are a guy, not single then reading this is not worth your time.
If you are a girl there is nothing new here, I know most of you are omniscient.

On a random day, at a random place you come across a random girl and you get an instant feeling that she is the "one" for you. In the next few mins of talk, the inevitable question comes up "Are you on Orkut?"...Now that's the beginning. You take her email ID, flick her chat ID from Orkut and start loading her inbox with messages, forwards, funny mails, quotes etc etc., . You are always online for her and the moment you comes online the question pops up on her window, "Hey hi, wass up?" You always go to places where there is a chance of seeing her. You try to run in to her and pretend that it was accidental. You wear nice dresses and try to look good on the days when there is a high probability of meeting her. After that you take her phone number and start calling her every day. For the first few days she picks up the phone, then slowly she starts giving the busy tone and the next stage is total avoidance. But, you always believe that she is interested in you or at least you don't want to accept the truth. For some of you the big day comes when you express your feelings to her and you don't even have to wait for her reply, it is generally, "I did not see you in that way, can we be just friends?". Some don't even reach that stage, they hide their feelings, but in either case one thing is common, the girl's name ends up being the password for the next few months.

As soon as they realize that they have reached the "age", guys start trying to impress girls. Some try to show-off that they are smart and some have this weird belief that girls consider stupid guys as cute. Intelligence to innocence, being introvert to extrovert, being classy to messy, strong to weak ...anything and everything, every guy has own strategy. I don't know who came up with this quote "Everything is fair in love and war", he (not she) must probably have been one of them. I don't know why guys fail to understand that girls are smart enough to understand all these and why would not they? Even before they realize that they are "girls", guys start hitting on them, one after the other, day and night, not allowing them even to breathe properly.

After reading till here some of you might be in dilemma whether you are really desperate or not. It's very easy to come to a conclusion. Take a paper and answer the following questions in Yes or No

1. Whenever you see a girl walking on the road ahead of you, Do you increase your walking speed, walk past her and then turn back to see her face?
2. Do you become very conscious about what you are talking, when you are around with girls?
3. Do you try to be cool or someone else in order to impress girls?
4. Do you think staying clam or moody when in a group makes the girl think about you?
5. You ask a girl to join you for lunch or coffee; do you think a YES from other side is an indication that she is interested in you?
6. Do you keep staring at girls?
7. Are you ready to date a girl even if she is around with someone else as well?
8. Is "Girls" the main topic of all your discussions with your friends?

If you find even a single "YES" in the paper then YOU ARE DESPERATE. Be a man, accept it.

Now the real question "What not to do when you are desperate about having a girl friend?"
Did you actually believe that I would come up with some solution or tips? Had I known it, would I be still single? It was just a trick to make you guys read this one. But, I have one tip though, first and foremost STOP being desperate. I know that it is difficult. At least try not to show that you are desperate. The rule is simple, "No one in this world cares for a thing that is easily gettable" and FYI girls are never worried about finding a guy and why do they have to? Did you ever come across a girl who never had a BF or never been proposed by a guy? If yes, then that's a miracle, you met a rare species or an extinct one in this world.

If you got the tip that you wanted and don't want to read any further it's fine. But, I would recommend reading further. Trust me, keep reading.

We know that we are the ones who make the girls realize that they are important, treat them as if they are precious, tell them that they are beautiful and show that they are in demand. We buy them gifts, spend all the money we have, do their work, roam around with them all the time, carry their stuff and in the end what do we get in return? a few thanks and an offer to be a good friend. Do we need all this? If 1/1000 th of the time wasted on a girl is spent on a guy you will find a friend for a lifetime. Just play some game together or watch a movie, give him a cigarette or buy him a drink and that is it. Realize that spending a night with your friends drinking till everyone pukes, having a hangover throughout the next day is more fun than spending the same night with your girl in a pub buying her drinks, talking crap, listening crap, making some crap moves..... What ever.

I know that at some point of time in your life you might have realized all this. But, there is a need to educate the rest and also pass on the message to the future generations. I dream of a day when guys are in demand and girls start worrying about finding a guy. I hope the day comes soon.

How to retrieve permanently deleted mail in outlook

Worried?? Just because you accidentally deleted an important mail from your outlook inbox? Well here is a way you can get it back
Don't worry if you have deleted any mails permanently from your outlook inbox. Here is a way you can retrieve your permanently deleted mails.
1. Go to Run by clicking on Start and type in regedit.

2. Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\exchange\client\Options

3. Right click on Options, choose New and click on D Word Value.

4. Now right click the new Dword Value and rename it to DumpsterAlwaysOn.
Note: This is case sensitive.

5. Right click on the DumpsterAlwaysOn and modify the Value data to 1 and click on OK.
When you type 1, this means the Recovery deleted Item is on. Also 0 to turn it off.

6. Now open Outlook and click on Tools.
7. Choose 'Recovery Deleted Items'.
